Two Rangers flops face the chop at last as key return gives Danny Rohl chance he’s been waiting for

It’s Kilmarnock up next for Rangers and Rohl finally has the license to shuffle his attacking pack

Mikey Moore is back for Rangers and that leaves Danny Rohl with some attacking flexibility at last.

The Ibrox boss is looking for a reaction after three disappointing draws on the spin have slowed the revival. Slowly but surely though the injury crisis befalling him is easing and the news that Moore is back in time to face Kilmarnock this evening gives him scope to rotate the forward line – and finally leave under-performing duds like Youssef Chermiti and Thelo Aasgaard in the cold for a spell.

On the Tottenham loanee’s imminent return, Rohl said: “Mikey trained with us today and if there’s no reaction he will be back tomorrow in the squad. I think it’s good news.

“I think he showed, especially in the Dundee game when he scored, the skills he has, especially between the lines.

“I think it was one of the best games from him. I think I see him more inside instead of just in the wide areas. I think this is good.

“He gives us these moments between the lines. He can have good decision-making, scoring goals, good finishing.

“Of course after injury you have to bring him back step-by-step, but still today in the small side of the game he showed what he can do. I think that is good news for us, especially for the upcoming games.”

Predicted Rangers XI

Whether or not the Welshman is ready to start is another thing but it’s likely he’ll be given every chance after playing a key role in Rohl’s very early games in charge. If he does then a three of Moore, Nedim Bajrami and Djeidi Gassama behind Bojan Miovski looks a promising attacking quarter.

Connor Barron and Nico Raskin meanwhile have been the preferred pairing in midfield but it may be time to rotate in the engine room slightly and bring in Mohamed Diomande from the start.
