Sean Payton provides status updates for J.K. Dobbins and Drew Sanders

Denver Broncos linebacker Drew Sanders suffered a foot injury this summer, and he’s spent the first 13 weeks of the regular season on injured reserve. Last week, Broncos coach Sean Payton was asked if he’s still hoping Sanders will be able to return this season.
“Yes,” Payton said. “It’s going to be later, but yes. We monitor the progress. [V.P. of player health and performance] Beau [Lowery] goes through the report. I don’t have the game, [but he’ll return].”
Denver has suffered multiple injuries at linebacker this season, so Sanders’ eventual return would provide a huge boost to the team’s depth at the position. Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins (foot) could also return.
“And honestly, the same can be said with Dobbins,” Payton said after referencing Sanders.
Previous reports have indicated Dobbins could return if Denver reaches the Super Bowl.
“It wouldn’t be soon, but that has a chance to happen,” Payton said of a potential Dobbins return.
So, if all goes well, Denver could get some big reinforcements down the stretch.
