Tesco is giving away the trees at ten stores across the UK from 10am onwards.

But there’s a catch – all of the free trees are a little wonky.

That means the trees may have unevenly spaced branches or be slightly lopsided, but Tesco said each one is still “perfectly imperfect” in its own way.

Giving away the trees helps the supermarket giant to reduce waste, while letting perfectly healthy trees bring Christmas cheer to hundreds of families.

All the trees will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis, so you’ll need to be quick.

You can get your hands on a tree from one of the following shops:

  • Colney Hatch Extra
  • Borehamwood Extra
  • Hammersmith
  • Southport Extra
  • Goole Superstore
  • Glossop Superstore
  • Bristol Brislington Extra

Trees are limited to one per household.

Although the trees are free, volunteers will be on hand collecting money for the Trussell Trust and FareShare, a charity that aims to end food poverty.

The giveaway is part of Tesco’s ‘That’s what makes it Christmas’ campaign, which celebrates how Christmas can still be magical even when it’s not picture perfect.

Other Christmas freebies

Tesco is hosting its Christmas markets in supermarkets across the UK this year.

Shoppers will be able to try free food and samples in a big goodie bag.

The pop-up events are taking place throughout this month at 165 venues.

How to save money on Christmas shopping

Consumer reporter Laura McGuire reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.

Limit the amount of presents – buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.

Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you’re not having to buy multiple presents.

Plan ahead – if you’ve got the stamina and budget, it’s worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.

Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you’re not forking out more than you should though.

Buy in Boxing Day sales – some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.

Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.

Shop via outlet stores – you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.

They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.

Meanwhile, if you’re a My John Lewis member, look out for Treats Of Christmas to open a reward in the app daily until December 12.

Plus, Lidl is offering free gift-wrapping stations and ten of its stores nationwide.

Between December 4 and 17, shoppers can have their shopping wrapped in their city’s  exclusive design for free.

You can also purchase three wrapping sheets for 75p, with all money raised donated to Neighbourly.
