Football Bet of the Day: Goals galore at Alkmaar once again on Sunday

Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the goal-laden Dutch Eredivisie, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ AZ vs Go Ahead Eagles
🇳🇱 Eredivisie
⏰ Sunday 7 December, 13:30
AZ will look to potentially climb back into third place in the Eredivisie table as they welcome the Go Ahead Eagles to the AFAS Stadion on Sunday afternoon, in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Maarten Martens’ hosts have fired in 26 goals across their opening 14 Eredivisie fixtures this campaign, with an impressive 16 (62%) of those coming across their six encounters on home soil.
The Cheese Farmers have failed to score just one in the league this season, notching on multiple occasions in eight (57%) of them – including in 5/6 (83%) in front of their supporters – and will be confident of breaching an Eagles backline that has kept a single shutout across their opening seven away matches in the Dutch top flight this term, shipping 15 goals.
Melvin Boel’s visitors have scored 23 goals across their opening 14 Eredivisie fixtures this term, with 11 (48%) of them coming on their travels.
The reigning KNVB Cup winners have failed to score just twice in the Eredivisie this term – notching 2+ goals in an impressive 10 (71%) of them – and will look to breach an AZ backline that has yet to keep a clean sheet across their opening six Eredivisie contests on home soil, shipping 13 goals.

Bet of the Day
AZ’s opening six Eredivisie fixtures on home soil have averaged a staggering 4.83 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals paying out in all six (100%) of them (4-1, 3-3, 2-2, 2-1, 4-1 & 1-5).
The Eagles’ opening 14 Eredivisie this term have averaged 3.36 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in 10 (71%) of them, whilst 5/7 (71%) of their road trips have produced goals at both ends (2-2, 2-2, 2-0, 2-4, 1-2, 0-1 & 2-4).
This fixture finished 2-2 last season, and given the goal-scoring form both of these sides are in, coupled with their lack of clean sheets, I’m expecting a similarly high-scoring affair.
- Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals
- Pays 17/20 (Betway)
