Your LG TV gets ‘significant upgrade’ with four Sky channels added for free

If you have an LG TV in your living room, there could be some good news. The Korean technology company has just confirmed a ‘significant upgrade’ to its LG Channels platform, which adds new features along with extra things to watch for free – there’s even some Sky shows to tune into. Yes, once the upgrade arrives, LG owners will find Sky Sports Stories, Sky Sports Vault and Sky Sports Classics can be viewed without a subscription, plus the company has also recently added the Sky News channel as well.

Other content includes LG1 Christmas, which adds dedicated festive content, plus there’s FIFA+ Women Channel for football fans and DP World Tour for those who love some golfing action.

Just like all of LG’s other channels, these new additions are FAST services (Free Ad-Supported Television), so users will need to watch sponsored messages during shows.

Along with all those channels, the blockbuster upgrade also brings other changes, including personalised content recommendations and an enhanced UI that LG promises will make finding things to view even easier.

A new “quick access” feature lets viewers simply press the “OK” button on the LG Magic Remote while watching a program to instantly see channel details, the TV guide, favourites and a list of popular content.

“LG Channels is designed to give users seamless access to high-quality, engaging content,” said Chris Jo, head of the webOS Platform Business Centre at the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company.

“With the latest upgrade, from the new logo to our refined personalisation features, we are enriching everyday viewing by making the user experience more intuitive and enjoyable for millions around the world.”
