McLaren’s Lando Norris heads to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix needing just a podium finish to claim his first Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship title

Lando Norris controls his own destiny as he approaches the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with a golden opportunity to claim the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship. The McLaren driver simply requires a podium placement to secure the title for the first time in his career.
Norris initially donned the papaya colors through the team’s Young Driver Programme in 2017 before making his F1 debut at the Australian Grand Prix in 2019. The 26 year old Brit achieved his maiden race victory at last year’s Miami Grand Prix and has maintained his momentum ever since.
This season, Norris has found himself locked in a thrilling championship fight with teammate Oscar Piastri and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, but he enters Yas Marina holding all the aces. What is Lando Norris’ net worth?
The British racer’s earnings have steadily climbed since his debut season, and in 2024 he inked a lucrative new agreement keeping him at McLaren through 2027. The deal is believed to net him approximately $21 million annually.
Taking into account this contract along with his various sponsorship deals with brands like Richard Mille, Monster Energy and PlayStation, Celebrity Net Worth places his wealth at roughly $70 million.

When he signed his new deal last January, Norris remarked: “It’s a great feeling to be staying in papaya. I’ve grown up with McLaren and feel at home here, the team are like family to me.
“The journey so far has been exciting. We’ve had ups and downs, but last season showed our desire to get back to competing at the front of the grid.”

Norris has been romantically connected to Portuguese actress and model Margarida Corceiro for some time, though the pair only recently went public with their romance. The duo made their debut as a couple at the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix, reigniting a speculated relationship that appeared to have cooled off in 2024.

Since going official, they’ve been photographed together frequently, with Corceiro becoming a regular fixture at race weekends cheering on her beau. However, her trackside presence has sparked controversy among fellow drivers due to the media frenzy she generates.
Broadcasting crews have historically focused on drivers’ significant others in the pit area both before and during competitions, drawing criticism from some within the sport, including Norris’s ex-teammate Carlos Sainz. Addressing the media attention, Corceiro explained to Jornal de Noticias: “I don’t call the cameras. If they record me, they record me. If they don’t record me, it doesn’t matter. Obviously, there are many cameras everywhere, but sometimes I don’t realise if I’m being recorded or not.”

Following the Singapore Grand Prix, Sainz voiced his concerns about such broadcast choices. Speaking to El Partidazo de COPE, he remarked: “It’s becoming a bit of a trend, which must have worked for them at one time, when people found it interesting to see our girlfriends, to see famous people on television, the reactions.
“Last weekend, they didn’t show any of the four or five overtakes I did at the end. They missed a lot of things. The other [showing the off-track things] is fine, but don’t lose sight of the main thing. For me, they go overboard a little by showing the celebrities and girlfriends.”
Why did Lando Norris relocate from the UK?
The Bristol-born driver previously stated he “would not enjoy” residing in Monaco, but apparently had a change of heart when he decided to relocate to the principality at the close of 2021.

His move occurred shortly before inking his massive deal with his Surrey-based F1 squad, and he provided a candid explanation when questioned about departing the UK.
“I’m moving to Monaco after [the final race in] Abu Dhabi for the reasons you probably expect,” he revealed in 2024. “It’s something that obviously a lot of drivers go to do and especially, with how racing is, I think we’ve seen for other drivers how quickly things can also go downhill.
“Of course I’ll understand and there’s going to be some [criticism] for sure. People do many things in life for money. This is just another one.”
