Footballer arrested in London on suspicion of assault and affray – The Athletic

A footballer has been arrested in central London on suspicion of assault and affray.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed to The Athletic that the arrest came following an incident on Wardour Street, in the capital’s Soho district, in the early hours of Saturday.
The 29-year-old was arrested at the scene on suspicion of two counts of assault and one count of affray.
“Police were called to Wardour Street, W1 at 00:47 on December 6 following reports of an assault,” the police statement read. “The victim was taken to hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.
“A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of two counts of assault and one count of affray.”
The player has been released on bail while police enquiries continue.
In the UK a person arrested cannot be named for legal reasons. Typically, a name can be reported if a suspect is charged following the arrest.
