Angry Ginge has gone from ranting about chips and football to the final of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
The Salford social media personality, real name Morgan Burtwistle, is among the final three celebrities left in the Australian jungle for the 25th series of the show.
He began streaming in 2020 as he played video games, but his fictional outburst about his struggle to get chips after a night out went viral in 2021.
Angry Ginge, who grew up on a council estate in Eccles, is now one of the UK’s most popular streamers with 1.4m followers with angry rants about football and his team Manchester United.
The YouTuber is in the final with Eastenders actor Shona McGarty and presenter Tom Read Wilson with the winner being crowned on the ITV1 show later.
Manchester rapper Aitch, 25, became the ninth celebrity to be voted out of the jungle on Saturday night.
Angry Ginge is now the favourite to win the jungle show.
His sister Tasha told the BBC that going on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! had been on his bucket list.
Home life
He was brought up by his mother Michelle Burtwistle who worked three job to support him and his sister Tasha.
During his time in the jungle, Angry Ginge has said his mum’s determination helped inspire him.
He said: “Even when I’m in here and it’s so tough on me mentally, I just always just think back to my mum getting up for her first job.
“And then she’d finish that and go to her second job, and then her third.
“If she can do it, then I can do this in the jungle.”
The social media star become emotional after he was reunited with his mother and sister on the ITV1 show.
His mother even brought him a Manchester United scarf but he later ranted about his team’s 1-1 draw with West Ham United after he was told the score.
Football management
He is friends with former England captain Wayne Rooney and was man of the match as he played for England at this year’s Soccer Aid match at Old Trafford.
His love of football has also seen him manage Winton Wanderers Yanited FC, a grassroots under-18 club.
He used to play for the club and has now taken them global on his YouTube channel.
Angry Ginge is known for being loud and excitable on his streams and admitted his football management style is “aggressive”.
