Cardinals can’t let Rams QB Matt Stafford shred them like lettuce

Stafford leads the NFL in passing touchdowns

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford leads the NFL with 32 passing touchdowns in 2025. Needless to say, that isn’t great news for the Arizona Cardinals who have allowed opponents 25 points per game this season. Nevertheless, the Cardinals need to construct a serviceable scheme driven by a strong pass rush in order to limit Stafford in Week 14.

Gumption, that is a willingness to stand up and fight, something Cardinals’ defensive coordinator Nick Rallis has shown himself to have over a rough stretch in the 2025 NFL season. Yet, Rallis will need to clobber Stafford in Week 14, or else, things might get ugly. Hopefully, the idea of getting shredded like taco lettuce ignites a fire for the Cardinals pass defense that ranks No. 20 in opponent pass yards allowed per game.

Injuries have riddled the Cardinals in 2025, and they will be without defensive back Max Melton, defensive lineman Walter Nolen III, safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, and defensive lineman L.J. Collier as well on Sunday. The Rams have totaled 42 touchdowns this season and are pushing with a third-down conversion percentage of around 40 percent. With 160 first downs by the way of pass, it’s safe to say that Stafford has been on a complete terror this season. With a 3-9 record on the season, the most satisfying feeling for the Cardinals would be to dish out a consecutive loss for the Rams who play as divisional foes and are treading upward headed into the playoffs.

Ultimately, the odds of the Cardinals defeating the Rams aren’t great according to the betting sports books. However, the Cardinals need to find a way to give fans something to cheer about instead of simply allowing Stafford and the Rams to steamroll them in front of their fans at State Farm Stadium.
