Ja’Marr Chase is 1,000-yard receiver for 5th time in 5 Bengals seasons

Bengals coach Zac Taylor speaks following loss to Bills

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor addresses the media following the team’s loss to the Bills on Dec. 7.

Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase is a 1,000-yard receiver for the fifth time in five NFL seasons.

Chase entered the Bengals’ NFL Week 14 loss to the Bills in Buffalo needing 29 receiving yards to reach 1,000 for the season.

He earned the milestone on a 16-yard catch from quarterback Joe Burrow in the fourth quarter.

Chase finished the game with 44 receiving yards on five catches.

Chase is the fifth player in NFL history with at least 1,000 yards in each of his first five seasons, joining Randy Moss, Mike Evans, former Bengals receiver A.J. Green and Justin Jefferson, Chase’s former LSU teammate.

“He is the best wide receiver in football,” Fox analyst Greg Olsen said during the broadcast. “Probably the most well-rounded receiver in the entire league.”

Chase, named a Pro Bowler in each of his first four seasons, won the receiving triple crown in 2024. It was the first in Bengals’ history.

Chase had seven receptions for 110 yards in the Bengals’ 32-14 win in Baltimore on Thanksgiving night.

The Bengals played their Week 12 game against the New England Patriots without Chase, who was suspended for one game for spitting on Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey during their altercation in Pittsburgh’s 34-12 Week 11 win.

Chase appealed the suspension, which was upheld. Chase denied spitting on Ramsey, but Ramsey said Chase spit on him before Ramsey was ejected, and Fox 19 video via Twitter/X of the incident supported Ramsey’s claim.

In Week 7 against the Steelers, Chase broke his own team record for receptions in a game with 16. He finished with 161 receiving yards and a touchdown.

In March, Chase signed a four-year contract extension with Cincinnati worth $161 million.
