Former UFL Specialists Trade Blows On Thursday Night Football

Week fourteen in the NFL is officially underway. Thursday Night Football brought us quite a bit of action from former UFL alumni. Between the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions, there were five active players from the USFL/XFL/UFL – and six in total.
Not surprisingly, it was the kickers who stole the show. Brandon Aubrey and Jake Bates went at it all night, trading blows – both figuratively and literally.
Aubrey in particular had an outstanding night. He made all five of his field goal attempts, including three from 55+, with a long of 63 yards.
Brandon also recorded a tackle, taking down Tom Kennedy which prevented an even bigger return for the Lions.
Jake Bates, on the other hand, also contributed in a big way during the Lions’ 44-30 win. He was 3-for-4 on field goal attempts (with the lone miss being a blocked kick) – connecting on five XP’s as well.
Returners in KaVontae Turpin (Cowboys) and Jacob Saylors (Lions) were also productive. Turpin racked up seven returns for 176 yards, while Saylors had five of his own for 141 yards. KaVontae also recorded two receptions for 26 yards.
In what was a thrilling night of Thursday NFL action, the United Football League was well represented across the board.
