Urgent repair work is underway on the Colombo–Puttalam railway line between Kuda Oya and Nattandiya after it was damaged by recent severe weather.
Floodwaters also destroyed land connected to an old railway iron bridge near the Walahapitiya sub-station, and restoration work is in progress.
The Chilaw–Bolawatta Railway Maintenance Unit, together with the Sri Lanka Navy, is conducting the repairs under the direct supervision of the Sri Lanka Railways Department.
