After a trial spanning over eight long years, the verdict in the actress assault case is finally set to be delivered on this day, December 8, at the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court.

WCC stands firm in solidarity

As the courtroom prepares for this decisive moment, the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) has expressed unwavering support for the survivor. In a note shared on social media, WCC noted, “This has not been an easy journey. The journey of being a victim to becoming a survivor. 3215 days of waiting for justice.” The collective emphasized that the survivor’s determination in facing the legal system has been extraordinary and serves as an inspiration to many.

Impact on Malayalam cinema and society

WCC’s statement also stressed the broader significance of the case. “Her fight has unleashed many tumultuous journeys for women in cinema, the Malayalam film industry and the state of Kerala. The impact has rippled through our collective conscience and voices have risen for change,” the note read.

A message for every survivor

The note concluded with a powerful declaration of solidarity: “Much has to be said for the courage and resilience she has shown through it all, while upholding her faith in the system. For the unversed, the case is scheduled for consideration at 11 AM, with all procedural formalities expected to conclude by 12 PM, after which Principal Sessions Judge Honey M. Varghese will pronounce the judgment.
