Police car involved in serious three-car crash on major South West road

The road will be closed all night, the police have confirmed

Police in Cornwall have confirmed that one of their vehicles has been involved in a three-car crash on the county’s busiest road.
The collision happened on the A30 at the Loggans Moor roundabout in Hayle this evening (Sunday, December 7).
Three vehicles were involved in the collision, which was first reported at about 8.30pm, and Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed one of them is a police car.
They have not yet elaborated on the circumstances of the crash.
In a statement to CornwallLive the force said: “Emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious collision involving three vehicles on the A30 at Connor Downs, West Cornwall.
“We were notified just before 8pm this evening, Sunday 7 December, to reports of a collision involving a police vehicle and two cars on the A30 between Roseworthy and Marsh Lane.

“A number of people are believed to be injured and are being treated by ambulance services.
“A full road closure as been put in place at St Erth Roundabout and at the Hayle bypass while emergency services work at the scene.”
The crash happened just before 8pm. Witnesses have reported seeing several police cars and ambulances at the scene as well as the Cornwall Air Ambulance Helicopter.
Traffic monitoring site Inrix said: “The A30 is closed in both directions due to a serious accident. Three vehicles are involved. The closure is affecting traffic from A3074 Nut Lane at the St Erth roundabout to the B3301 Carwin Rise at the Loggans Moor roundabout.”
The police spokesperson added: “We expect this incident to cause disruption to the surrounding road network.”
