A Sunday Brunch guest departed the studio immediately following their chat with Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer this week (Sunday, 7th December).

This week, the hosts welcomed celebrity guests Chris McCausland, Ben Miller, Chris and Rosie Ramsey, Nigel Havers and Jack Savoretti.

Regrettably, Tim informed viewers at the programme’s opening that actor Havers would need to depart early owing to professional obligations.

During the show, the presenters spoke with the actor regarding his upcoming live performance, Talking B****cks, which hits the stage next year.

Nevertheless, Havers is presently performing for different reasons as he’s appearing in the London Palladium’s pantomime for the 10th consecutive year, reports the Express.

The actor is playing The Keeper of the Privy in the renowned theatre’s staging of Sleeping Beauty, which also features Catherine Tate, Julian Clary, Paul Zerdin and Rob Madge.

When questioned about his decision to join the pantomime, Havers candidly confessed: “I don’t know. For the money, really.

“I’ve done it every year since we’ve started with my friend Julian Clary and Paul Zerdin, the ventriloquist,” he revealed. “And it’s fantastic. I suppose it’s an amazing experience.”

Havers recounted proposing a fresh pantomime at the Palladium to the venue’s proprietor, Andrew Lloyd Webber, disclosing “it’s been there ever since. It’s stuck.”

In a light-hearted moment, he joked about Julian “abusing” him on stage and confessed they both blanked on the lyrics during their grand finale in the first show. He also let slip that they enjoy “the best martini in the world” post-performance each evening.

“It’s the most expensive panto ever made,” he quipped. “Catherine Tate this year is just quite extraordinary. The whole place goes wild.”

Viewers tuning into the Channel 4 programme were thoroughly amused by Havers’ stint, even though he had to cut his appearance short to make it to Sunday’s matinee performance.

One viewer gushed: “Nigel Havers is stealing the show. He’s a great raconteur.”

“I’ve never taken Nigel Havers very seriously, wasn’t someone I was remotely interested in BUT the guy sounds a scream!” another chimed in.

And yet another confessed: “Couldn’t help it. Had to watch Nigel Havers on Sunday Brunch. Have always liked him.”

Sunday Brunch airs from 10am on Channel 4.
