“40 feels like a starting grid”: Hollywood star Frankie Muniz gets real on his birthday as he embraces full-time NASCAR career

Hollywood actor-turned-NASCAR driver Frankie Muniz recently celebrated his 40th birthday on December 5, 2025. Following that, he expressed how it feels to be 40 and got candid about his stock car racing career in an X post.

Muniz debuted in the Xfinity Series with Joey Gase Motorsports. He piloted the #35 Ford as a part-time driver for the team in 2024. The following year, Muniz also landed a seat in the Truck Series with Reaume Brothers Racing. He drove the #22 and #27 Fords for the Truck Series team. Later, in the 2025 season, he landed his maiden full-time seat and competed in the #33 Ford.

Thanks for the submission!

Reflecting on his NASCAR career, Frankie Muniz claimed that he never imagined his life would look like this at 40. He further pointed out that it feels like something out of a science fiction movie. He wrote:

“If you’d told 13-year-old me on the Malcolm set that I’d walk away from Hollywood, race trucks full-time in NASCAR, own a freaking olive oil store, become a husband, a dad, and somehow still get recognized as “that kid from the show” two decades later… I would’ve called you crazy.”

Continuing, the Truck Series driver highlighted that he had chaotic twenties and figured out who he was in the thirties. Reflecting on that, he remarked on his 40s, embracing his NASCAR career, and said:

“40 feels like the starting grid. I’ve got the best little family, the fastest chapter of my racing career ahead, and a hunger I haven’t felt since I was that kid begging for one more take. This isn’t the finish line. This is engines on, green flag dropping. Let’s go. Thank you all for being part of this absolutely unbelievable ride.”

Frankie Muniz finished the 2025 season in 26th place in the drivers’ standings with 256 points. He logged a single top-ten finish during the season at the inaugural race held at Daytona International Speedway.

“At least you can see where you stand”: When Frankie Muniz elucidated the difference between NASCAR and Hollywood

In October 2024, Truck Series driver Frankie Muniz was featured in a podcast on Dirty Mo Media’s YouTube channel. During the episode, Muniz opened up about his acting stint before debuting in stock car racing.

The #33 Ford driver is well-recognized for his roles in My Dog Skip, Agent Cody Banks, Big Fat Liar, and Malcolm in the Middle. Later, Muniz switched his career and debuted in NASCAR. Following that, he told the media house:

“The one amazing thing about [NASCAR] that I love, compared to being an actor, is it’s not subjective. I can think I did a great job in the movie and think I did a good job acting, and people see that, and they were like, ‘Meh, it was okay.’ [In NASCAR], if you’re good and you belong, you’re at the top of the leaderboard. At least you can see where you stand. I love that.”

Frankie Muniz completed 25 races in his two-year stint in the Craftsman Truck Series. He clinched one top-ten finish at Daytona International Speedway this year in the #33 Ford and has an average start of 28.5.
