Report: D-Backs agree to 1-year, $7.5M deal with Soroka

The Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to a one-year, $7.5-million contract with right-hander Michael Soroka, a source told Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic.
Soroka’s deal includes $2 million in bonuses, Piecoro adds.
The 28-year-old Canadian appeared in 22 games (17 starts) between the Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs last season, posting a 4.52 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 9.5 K/9 while holding opponents to a .210 batting average.
Opposing hitters managed to generate only a .118 average against Soroka’s slurve, which had a 28.5% put-away percentage.
The Diamondbacks enter 2026 with Ryne Nelson, Eduardo Rodríguez, Brandon Pfaadt, and Bryce Jarvis as rotation options after Zac Gallen became a free agent.
Ace Corbin Burnes is also expected to be back by the All-Star break after having Tommy John surgery.
