Symphony of Unity release orchestral rework of Faithless’ ‘Insomnia’ for its 30th anniversary

To mark three decades of one of dance music’s most defining records, Symphony of Unity unveil a majestic orchestral rework of Faithless’ timeless anthem ‘Insomnia’. Although countless remixes exist, this version reshapes the classic with a cinematic scale that amplifies its emotional and rhythmic power. Moreover, the rework bridges orchestral grandeur with electronic tension, offering a renewed experience for both longtime fans and a new generation discovering the track.

Originally released in 1995, ‘Insomnia’ became a global phenomenon, peaking at No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart, reaching No. 1 on the UK Dance Chart, and topping national charts across Europe. Consequently, it cemented its status as a cornerstone of the mid-90s club landscape and one of electronic music’s most enduring creations.

Three decades later, Symphony of Unity breathe new life into the anthem, blending driving beats with sweeping brass, strings, and choral textures. Conductor Kevin Houben explains: Insomnia has been in the set since our very first show 10 years ago… The orchestration bundles all emotions, styles and rhythmic pulses of this classic – with that iconic silence before the drop.

The rework debuted across a series of major performances, including Tomorrowland, the Unity shows at Sphere Las Vegas, and a sold-out debut at Antwerp Expo. Furthermore, percussionist Lars van den Oever reflects on the project’s growth, noting how the ensemble has pushed musical and visual boundaries throughout 2025.

With this release, Symphony of Unity continue building momentum after their recent symphonic reinterpretation of ‘Reload’ by Sebastian Ingrosso & Tommy Trash. As they prepare for a full album arriving in 2026, their orchestral-electronic crossover stands poised to reach even greater heights.
