Watch: Trump takes on central role in Kennedy Center Honors

President Trump took a central role in the annual Kennedy Center Honors on 7 December, moving away from tradition by taking on the hosting duties for the night.
The awards, which went to stars including Sylvester Stallone and Gloria Gaynor, were handed out by the president in a ceremony the day before in the Oval Office.
Previous hosts of the awards show have included Walter Cronkite, Steven Colbert and Caroline Kennedy – John F Kennedy’s daughter – but Trump is the first president to host.
Earlier this year, Trump ousted the Kennedy Center’s leadership and replaced much of the board of trustees with Republican supporters. President Trump was then elected chair of the institution which he said he would rename ‘the Trump-Kennedy Center’.
