Manchester United manager makes transfer plea to club ahead of January 2026 window

The January transfer window is arguably one of the most important periods of the season with it giving teams such as Manchester United the opportunity to improve their squads before the second half of the season.

Its importance is no different to United, who, in a bid to achieve the aim of European football before the end of the season, may choose to recruit players to strengthen their squad.

One player that could be a signing for United is Ayyoub Bouaddi who is being eyed by the Red Devils ahead of the window.

But, with other clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester City, and Paris Saint Germain also interested in the midfielder, the possibility of this happening can be said to be low.

This belief is further enhanced through Lille extending Bouaddi’s contract recently to 2029 as the Ligue 1 outfit looking to retain the 18-year-old.

However, even if the possibility of this was apparent and likely, the support of the club’s hierarchy would be needed.

Now, ahead of the window, Manchester United Women’s manager Marc Skinner has made a plea to the club urging them to be aggressive.

Speaking to the BBC after the side’s 2-1 win against West Ham United on Sunday, Skinner stated: “We made have made history for Manchester United.

“We are showing progression.

“Now we need to be aggressive in the window and bring in new players that help support the growth of the team.”

Recently, midfielder Celin Bizet announced she was pregnant which could create a gap in the midfield whilst the Women’s Asian Cup could mean Hinata Miyazawa is missing from the squad.

These future absentees could be a further reason for this request to the club.

But, nothing will be decided until the club has made its decision on funding for the window.
