January Transfer News: Man United Should Hijack Tottenham Move For ‘Proven’ Premier League Striker

Man United should hijack a potential January move from Tottenham for a Premier League striker.
The Red Devils have improved this season under Ruben Amorim, as they have scored more goals, and shown solid defensive solidity, but they remain inconsistent. Man United will be hoping to end the season in a European football place.
Man United should invest in January to further improve Amorim’s squad and give the United manager the best possible chance to finish strong and qualify for Europe.

Goal-scoring has been better for United, but they are still crying out for a proven number nine. They signed Benjamin Sesko in the summer, but he has been inconsistent when fit this season, scoring just two goals in 11 Premier League matches.
Man United should hijack Spurs move for Mateta
If they want someone to deliver instant results from January onwards, Man United should look to sign a proven Premier League striker, and one may becoming available. Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta’s contract is due to expire in 2027, and he is yet to sign an extension at Selhurst Park.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham are considering making a move for Mateta to make the most of his contract stalemate. Man United should hijack Spurs’ attempts to land the Frenchman and sign him themselves.
Mateta has scored seven goals in 15 games this season for Palace, and he has proven that he is a physical, proper target-man striker, which is exactly the sort of player that Man United are lacking in attack.
He has a market value of around £30m, and so wouldn’t be an overly expensive striker to add. In fact, £30m is a bargain for a proven Premier League striker, who is arguably one of the best, not only in the league, but also in Europe. He would certainly give Man United’s attack some more firepower.
