Iowa farmer thanks Trump for bridge payment to farmers: ‘Christmas early’

WASHINGTON (TNND) — Iowa farmer Cordt Holub thanked President Donald Trump on Monday during a roundtable discussion for the massive bridge payment to farmers during a roundtable discussion.
“I want to say thank you for this bridge payment,” Holub said to Trump. “It’s Christmas early for farmers.”
Trump announced Monday that the U.S. would be providing $12 billion in economic assistance to American farmers struggling due to inflation.
He said that the money would be coming from tariff revenue and given to the farmers.
“I think you brought Christmas to farmers,” Holub told Trump.
“With this bridge payment, we’ll be able to farm another year, help us get by. It’s such an honor to be here with you.”
While farmers have been hit hard by inflation and tariffs, Holub told Trump to keep standing up to countries.
“You have a backbone to stand up to other countries for trade,” he said.
“You’re getting things done [with] tax provisions I’ll be able to potentially pass on a farm to my children because of you.”
