What Is The ‘Jon Hamm Dancing In the Club Scene’ Meme?

Jon Hamm’s viral dancing scene comes from the first season of Your Friends & Neighbors, which premiered on Apple TV in April 2025. The show stars Hamm as the character Andrew Cooper, a disgraced hedge fund manager who, after getting fired and divorced, starts robbing his wealthy neighbors to survive.

In the show’s eighth episode, titled “When Did We Become These People?” Cooper goes clubbing with two other characters named Nick and Barney (his closest friends) after Nick punches him in the face during an earlier confrontation. One of the earliest known examples uses the scene to represent the poster’s state of being when everything is going wrong, essentially showing them “dancing through the pain,” mirroring the context of the original scene.
