Eastern North Carolina schools announce delays due to winter weather concerns

Multiple schools are announcing closures or delays across Eastern North Carolina due to inclement weather.
The following are some of those announcements:
P.S. Jones Middle School:
Weather Alert for Tomorrow
Beaufort County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay tomorrow due to the potential for winter weather in our area. This delay is being implemented out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
Please allow extra time for travel in the morning and stay tuned for any additional updates from the district.

Pamlico County Schools:
Due to the possibility of slick road conditions in the morning, Pamlico County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay for students and staff tomorrow, December 9th, 2025.
We appreciate your patience and ask that everyone use caution while travelling. Additional updates will be shared if conditions change.
Craven Community College:
Craven CC will operate on a delay tomorrow, Dec. 9, due to a winter weather advisory that is predicted to bring a mix of sleet and snow flurries to the area this evening. This closure impacts all seated and online classes on all campuses.
Employees should report at 10 a.m., and classes will begin at 11 a.m. Please continue to monitor the college website, social media, and local media for updates as they become available. Stay safe!
Onslow County Schools:
Rainfall and the forecast for sub-freezing temperatures overnight are expected to create potentially hazardous driving conditions across parts of the county on Tuesday morning. To ensure the safety of our school community, the Onslow County School System will be on a two-hour delay for all students on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
- Onslow Early College High School (OECHS) students in 9th and 10th grade will observe the Delayed Start. OECHS students in 11th and 12th grade will follow the schedule announced by Coastal Carolina Community College (CCCC).
- Classes will not be held at the Eastern North Carolina Regional Skills Center (ENCRSC). Skills Center students will need to report to their regularly scheduled high school.
Unless notified by their supervisor, staff of Onslow County schools will also have a two-hour delay on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

Jones County Public Schools:
Jones County Families and Staff,
In collaboration with Jones County Emergency Management, Jones County Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, December 9th, for students and staff.
West Craven High School:
Weather Update
Due to the forecasted weather, all after-school and evening activities are cancelled today.
Please note: YMCA after-school care will operate as normal.

Craven County Schools:
Due to the forecasted wintry mix anticipated this evening and the potential for hazardous road conditions in the early morning, Craven County Schools will operate on a 2-Hour Delay for all students and staff on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025. Grab-and-go breakfast will be available.
District staff will be monitoring the roads closely if conditions change overnight and a full closure is needed.
Arapahoe Charter School:
Arapahoe Charter School will be on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, December 9.
Tyrrell County:
Tyrrell County Schools has made the decision to operate on a Two-Hour Delay for Tuesday, December 9, 2025, due to inclement weather and the possibility of hazardous road conditions.
If there is a need to cancel school for tomorrow or go into remote learning status, a further update will be provided by 8 a.m. on 12/9/25. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
