A 2025 women’s college soccer season that started in August with hundreds of programs around the country nursing championship dreams is now down to two teams who will compete for a national title on a frigid December night in Kansas City.
Florida State, the No. 3 national seed, will take on No. 1 overall seed Stanford in the final match of the Women’s College Cup on Monday, Dec. 8 at CPKC Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, the home of the NWSL’s Kansas City Current.
It’s a rematch of not only an Oct. 16 matchup in Tallahassee, Florida between the two programs, a 2-1 Stanford victory, but a rematch of the 2023 Women’s College Cup, a 5-1 Florida State win.

The Seminoles have won four of the previous 11 national championships, including two of the past four.
To earn the program’s fifth NCAA championship, they’ll have to knock off a Stanford team that’s been the country’s best squad for much of the season. The Cardinal are 21-1-2 this season, with their lone loss coming all the way back on Sept. 7 against UCLA. Stanford has won its five NCAA tournament games by a combined score of 22-5.

The Seminoles lost the previous matchup between the teams this season, but largely controlled the game, nearly doubling the Cardinal in shots (16 to nine). This time around, they’ll get a more favorable result for their third title in the past five years.
