Power restored for more than 22,500 PG&E customers in San Francisco

More than 22,500 Pacific Gas and Electric customers lost power Monday morning in an outage affecting a swath of San Francisco.

The outage was reported to PG&E at 9:54 a.m. and affected 22,547 customers, according to the utility. Service was restored at 11:48 a.m.

An equipment failure in the Hunters Point substation caused the outage, a spokesperson said.

Households sfrom the Mission and Bernal Heights through Portola and Silver Terrace into the Hunters Point and Bayview neighborhoods lost electricity.

The utility urged customers to sign up for updates through its website.

Monday’s power cuts follow a nearly two-hour outage (opens in new tab) Sunday evening to more than 4,000 PG&E customers in several west-side neighborhoods.
