Jammu & Kashmir: Week-Long Shutdown Due To Intense Cold Wave
Authorities have ordered a week-long closure of schools from December 8 to 14 in J&K’s winter zone as dense fog, sub-zero temperatures, and early snowfall make commuting unsafe.
The administration has also formalised the winter break schedule:
- Pre-primary: Nov 26, 2025 – Feb 28, 2026
- Classes 1–8: Dec 1, 2025 – Feb 28, 2026
- Classes 9–12: Dec 11, 2025 – Feb 22, 2026
Parents and teachers have welcomed the decision, citing severe discomfort during morning hours.
Kerala: Schools Closed For Elections On Dec 9 & 11
Kerala will shut all government and private schools on December 9 and 11 due to local body elections. Many campuses will be used as polling stations, prompting mandatory closures.
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Andhra Pradesh: Rain-Linked Closures Continue
After Cyclone Ditwah, widespread moderate to heavy rainfall continues to disrupt normal life across coastal districts.

Maharashtra: Teachers’ Strike Halts Classes In 18,000 Schools
A massive statewide strike by teaching and non-teaching staff has suspended classes across nearly 18,000 schools, primarily affecting Classes 9 and 10.
While Mumbai remains less impacted, several districts—especially Marathwada—have seen prolonged closure.
The state government’s warning of salary deductions has escalated tensions, and more shutdowns are expected if talks fail.
