The A127 in Essex has been shut in both directions due to a police incident.
The road is blocked at the A129 Rayleigh Weir, with traffic being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads, Essex Highways said.
Part of the roundabout over the A127 is also closed, Highways added.
Drivers have been warned of long delays in both directions on the A127 and surrounding roads.
