Mark Clattenburg says ‘reckless’ West Ham star should have been sent off vs Manchester United

Manchester United had to settle for a draw at home to West Ham. It should have been very different.
1-0 up against West Ham, Manchester United ended up having to settle for a 1-1 draw after conceding a goal from a set piece.
Head coach Ruben Amorim made numerous mistakes with his game management, making five substitutions when the match really didn’t demand it.
It did not help that former United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka put in a defensive masterclass.
Wan-Bissaka cleared a shot off the line, and made a number of decisive defensive interventions to stop the Manchester United attack in its tracks.
But it could have been a little different, with Wan-Bissaka escaping a second booking.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka should have been sent off
Aaron Wan-Bissaka was booked in the 78th minute for a late challenge. And then minutes later he committed another.
Wan-Bissaka slid in late on Patrick Dorgu and took the man and not the ball.
Instead of giving Wan-Bissaka a second yellow, referee Andrew Kitchen decided not to sanction the West Ham defender further.
Speaking to United In Focus, former referee Mark Clattenburg says Wan-Bissaka should have been sent off.
Clattenburg said: “Aaron Wan-Bissaka who was already on a yellow card makes a challenge from behind on Dorgu of Manchester United without winning the ball.
“The challenge was reckless and because he slides in from behind, this is a simple second yellow card and a one which should then have been punished with a red card.”

United did not benefit from red card vs Everton
It would have been a little simplistic to take the view that a West Ham red card would have led to a Manchester United victory.
Last week, Manchester United should have benefited from an early red card when Everton had a man sent off.
United struggled to break the Toffees down and lost 1-0.
And amid a series of defensive substitutions against West Ham, and few attempts at goal after their equaliser, there was little to suggest United would have been able to take advantage.
