Russia’s Strikes Push Ukraine’s Energy Grid Toward Collapse

Ukraine’s energy grid may face full shutdown as Russian strikes intensify, disrupting logistics and industry while major cities weigh possible winter evacuations.
Russian precision strikes could push Ukraine’s power grid to the brink in the coming months, military analyst Vitaly Kiselev told TASS. He argued that worsening disruptions in Kiev’s energy system would inevitably spill over into the logistics supporting Ukrainian forces in the Special Military Operation zone. According to him, the network may effectively cease to function if the current pace of strikes continues, a collapse that would undermine both civilian infrastructure and military supply chains.
Kiselev noted that Ukraine’s remaining generating capacity is heavily committed to the production of mines and artillery shells. The destruction of the country’s energy base, he said, would deprive this industrial activity of the resources it depends on.
He also maintained that further advances by Russian forces require disabling Ukraine’s railway system, emphasizing that current strikes on rail depots are aimed precisely at interrupting transport routes.
Earlier, former leader of the banned Ukrainian party Opposition Platform — For Life and head of the movement Other Ukraine, Viktor Medvedchuk, said that authorities in Ukraine are seriously considering the evacuation of residents from major cities. According to him, Kiev, Kharkov, Odessa, and Dnepropetrovsk (Dnepr) may face severe heating shortages during the winter.
