Ind vs SA T20I at Barabati Stadium: Milestones await for Team India stars

India step into the T20I clash against South Africa at the Barabati Stadium with renewed confidence. After a 2–0 loss in the Test series, the Men in Blue responded strongly with a 2–1 win in the ODIs. The white-ball unit appears settled, energized, and backed by home support—setting the stage for an exciting contest in the shortest format.

As the series begins at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, several Indian players are on the brink of major records. Here are the key milestones to watch out for…

Batting Milestones

Suryakumar Yadav

Needs 246 runs to join Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the 3000 T20I runs club.

59 runs away from 9000 T20 runs, a feat achieved only by Kohli, Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan among Indians.

Needs 6 more sixes to reach 400 sixes in T20 cricket, with Kohli and Rohit being the only Indians to cross the mark.

Shubman Gill

Requires 163 runs to touch the 1000-run milestone in T20Is.

Tilak Varma

Just 4 runs short of 1000 T20I runs.

Can become the fourth-fastest Indian to reach the landmark after Virat Kohli, Abhishek Sharma, KL Rahul, and Suryakumar Yadav.

Sanju Samson

Needs 5 runs to complete 1000 runs in Men’s T20s.

Just 4 runs away from becoming the sixth Indian to enter the 8000 T20 runs club, joining Kohli, Rohit, Dhawan, Suryakumar and KL Rahul.

Bowling Milestones

Hardik Pandya

Needs 2 wickets to reach 100 T20I wickets, a milestone achieved only once by an Indian so far—Arshdeep Singh.

A combination of 140 runs + 2 wickets will make him the first Indian and fourth player overall to score 2000 runs and take 100 wickets in T20Is.

Axar Patel

Needs 47 runs to become the first Indian with 3500 runs and 250+ wickets in T20 cricket.

Jasprit Bumrah

Just 1 wicket away from completing 100 wickets in T20Is.

Varun Chakravarthy

Needs 5 wickets for 50 T20I wickets. Achieving it in the next match would make him the fastest Indian to the milestone, surpassing Kuldeep Yadav (30 matches).

Kuldeep Yadav

12 wickets short of the 100 T20I mark. If he gets there quickly, he could become the fastest bowler in world cricket to reach the milestone, overtaking Rashid Khan’s record of 53 matches.
