Penn State TEs coach Ty Howle to become Virginia Tech offensive coordinator: Source

Penn State is losing a longtime position coach to Virginia Tech and James Franklin.
Tight ends coach Ty Howle is leaving the Nittany Lions to become the offensive coordinator at Virginia Tech, according to a source.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel first reported the news.
Howle has already departed the program and will not coach in the team’s bowl game against Clemson, according to a source.
He was originally hired by Franklin as an analyst ahead of the 2020 season and was promoted to tight ends coach in 2021, and then added the co-offensive coordinator title in 2023. Howle played at Penn State from 2009-2013 before getting into coaching.
New Penn State head coach Matt Campbell has yet to fill out his coaching staff and will likely do so over the coming weeks.
