Forever Friends, a new Pokemon GO Friendship Level, is now available to players. The mechanic is being released in a phased manner, currently available in New Zealand from Monday, December 8, 2025. Niantic mentioned that it will release globally “at a later date”.
So, what is this new Friendship Level in Pokemon GO, and what benefits does it provide?

Pokemon GO Forever Friends explained
Forever Friends is higher than Best Friends in Pokemon GO. You need 180 friendship points for this level. It offers the following rewards:
- It allows Remote Trades between the two trainers.
- You can earn Friendship Points by engaging with Forever Friends. Getting more friendship points will give you rewards like XP and additional Remote Trades.
Forever Friends has the following bonuses:
- Sustained bonuses from Best Friends:
- Large reduction in the trading Stardust requirements.
- Receive 4 extra Premier Balls when participating in a raid with your friend.
- Ability to Trade Remotely once after earning 90 additional friendship points.
- Note that additional friendship points are required for subsequent Remote Trading.
- Receive an additional attack boost when Battling together.
You can earn at most one friendship point per day. It can be earned through “battling together, trading, sending Gifts, weekly challenges, or completing other interactions”. Trainers can now have a max of 650 friends, with the limit being slowly increased from 450 over the next few weeks.
The following Friendship Levels are currently available to trainers in Pokemon GO:
- Friend
- Good Friend
- Great Friend
- Ultra Friend
- Best Friend
- Forever Friends
The Remote Trade option is something that the Pokemon GO community has wanted for a long time. While the way you will be able to utilize the mechanic may not be as freely as one would want, it still allows friends/users from different parts of the world to exchange their desired Pokemon.
