Djibouti President Meets FAO Boss Over $100 Million Agricultural Investment

Djibouti, 8 December 2025 – President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh of Djibouti hosted Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Director-General Qu Dongyu at the presidential palace on Sunday during an official visit to the country.
The meeting focused on Djibouti’s development priorities and the FAO’s support in addressing food insecurity. Officials discussed initiatives to diversify food production, develop agriculture and livestock projects, and enhance trade in the agricultural and fisheries sectors.
Djibouti’s Minister of Agriculture, Mohamed Ahmed Awale, confirmed that discussions included financial commitment of approximately $100 million to support agricultural and livestock development projects.
