Just a few seconds after referee Nicholas Walsh had started the second half of the until then goalless match, the supporters of the German record champions set off plenty of pyrotechnics – immersing the arena in a colorful, flickering sea of lights.
And perhaps this intense support also helped Bayern quickly recover from the setback, not only equalizing through Gnabry (65th minute) but turning the game around just four minutes later: Rising star Lennart Karls scored the 2-1 for the home team. Jonathan Tah even increased the lead to 3-1 shortly after (77th minute).
