Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Pete Wicks has sustained injuries after taking a nasty fall. The ex TOWIE star appeared in high spirits at The Fashion Awards last week, but has now revealed that he almost didn’t make it.

Just hours beforehand, the 37-year-old suffered a fall that left him with a “smashed” face, damaged knee and a broken tooth.

Speaking about his appearance at the awards ceremony on his Staying Relevant podcast, he told Vicky Pattison: “I nearly didn’t make it because I had a fall at the weekend.

“So, I bashed up my knee and smashed my face on the floor and broke my tooth.”

Pete didn’t disclose what led to the fall, but explained that his dentist was currently creating a replacement tooth for him.

When his co-host asked if he had a chipped tooth, he responded: “No because I went to the dentist on Monday to have a, kind of like a, fake tooth while they make me a new tooth, which I go to get fitted on Saturday.”

Following Pete’s revelation about his mishap, his close friend Vicky couldn’t resist poking fun at him.

“I simply can’t with you saying things like that,” she chuckled.

“Like, I already feel old. If you’re going to start saying things like, ‘Oh, I had a fall’ and ‘God, my knees are playing up because of the weather’, like, I swear to God it’s doing nothing for my mental health because I’m older than you.”

During a subsequent discussion about ageing, Vicky looked back on her appearances on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and Strictly Come Dancing.

Following Pete’s observation that it had been “a decade” since her triumph as Queen of the Jungle, Vicky described such programmes as “a young woman’s game”.

“I really underestimated the advantage I had going in the jungle as a 27-year-old woman, like pretty much physically me at my prime,” she explained.

“Like my f*****g body now, like I swear to God, [if] I sleep on a mattress that’s not my own, I feel like I’ve been hit by a car. Like I’m so old, like physically.”

Vicky continued by expressing doubt about whether she could take part in the jungle now, and suggested that her recent Strictly performance might have been stronger had she been younger.

Meanwhile, Pete took part in the BBC dancing show last year, performing with professional dancer Jowita Przystał.

The pair progressed to the semi-final stage before being eliminated in the dance-off against Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Skorjanec.

Looking back on his time on the programme, he admitted to being “over the moon” when he departed, having struggled with the demands of dancing.

For Vicky, she confessed to spending a week in tears following her elimination from the competition.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.35pm on BBC One.
