The Reds have been dealt another blow ahead of the game at the weekend.
Liverpool were hoping to restore momentum with a big performance against Leeds United last night but the game ended in the worst possible way.
Letting two leads slip, Arne Slot hung his head in shame once again as he saw his team concede another late goal and drop more points in their Premier League title defence season.
Now sat in ninth place, an opportunity was missed to climb back up the table, and morale and belief remains frighteningly low for a group of such high quality.
Hugo Ekitike scored a quick-fire brace just after half-time.
Liverpool looked comfortable, but a Ibrahima Konate slide tackle that failed to connect with the ball got Leeds United right back into the game.
From there, defensive errors led to a sloppy equaliser.
Dominik Szoboszlai did expertly well to stroke home a finish o restore Liverpool’s lead, but in the dying moments of the game Liverpool failed to deal with a set-piece yet again and it ended all square at Elland Road.
Ekitike scored his second goal after latching on to a perfectly placed cross by Conor Bradley.
Bradley had just returned from injury after last featuring for the Reds against Manchester City at the start of November.
He put in a solid performance, but the Northern Ireland captain frustratingly picked up another caution last night.
As a result, Conor Bradley will now be suspended for Liverpool’s next Premier League match against Brighton on the weekend as he has now picked up five yellow cards in the league this season.
He will be a big miss for Arne Slot, who is desperately trying to find solutions to fix his leaky defence at the minute.
