Gavin & Stacey star and co-creator Ruth Jones shares exciting update about new James Corden project

Gavin & Stacey star and co-creator Ruth Jones has shared an exciting update about her upcoming collaboration with James Corden, teasing that she felt “very lucky”. Though we still don’t have a release date, this is good news nonetheless!

The Apple TV series, which is believed to be called The Choir, will see Jones and Corden star as estranged siblings who reunite after a few years apart, with the pair also serving as executive producers.

In an interview with RadioTimes.com, Jones, who portrayed Nessa Jenkins in Gavin & Stacey in addition to co-creating and co-writing with Corden, shared that filming for the upcoming Apple TV series would commence shortly.

“The next project I’m working on is set in Wales and it’s with my dear old friend and fellow actor Steve Speirs – we’ve co-written something. We’re filming before we film the project with James,” she confirmed.

“So I’m writing with James and with Steve, sort of in parallel as it were. It’s been great actually, we’ve got it all mapped out, we’ve got great production teams on both sides and I feel very lucky.”

As per the logline, The Choir sees Jones and Corden portray Lisa and Ben respectively, with the action picking up after years of estrangement. Lisa has remained in England in a town where “nothing happens”, while Ben has lived abroad.

They are brought back together following some events in Ben’s life, and he returns to the town that he had once escaped. Furthermore, he also has to deal with his past as well as his family.

The comedy-drama is said to consist of eight episodes, with Jones and Corden said to be joined by an all-star British cast. The names are yet to be unveiled, however, so we’ll have to wait for further updates.

Before then, Jones can be seen alongside James Nesbitt in Run Away, an eight-part thriller from Netflix. Based on Harlan Coben’s novel of the same name, the action follows a father as he searches for his missing daughter.

The Choir will stream on Apple TV, while Run Away will premiere on Netflix on 1 January 2026.
