The Creators of One of the Most Iconic British Comedies Tease Their Next Big Project

From a brand-new adventure for Wallace and Gromit in A Vengeance Most Fowl to countless festive specials, the BBC pulled out all the stops last Christmas for a memorable December 25 for television lovers. Alas, this Christmas doesn’t look quite as appetizing, with a Christmas special of the hit comedy series Amandaland the highlight. However, on Christmas Eve night, the Beeb is repeating last year’s flagship festive special, trying to recapture some of the magic that came with the final episode of James Corden and Ruth Jonesiconic British sitcom Gavin and Stacey on December 25, 2024.

With 12.3 million viewers watching live, becoming the BBC’s most-watched show on Christmas Day in 16 years, Gavin and Stacey‘s final bow was an enormous success, and made sure no one could ever forget the comedic genius that Corden and Jones gave audiences over almost two decades. Well, thankfully, it was reported in September that the pair’s writing partnership wasn’t over just yet, and that they would be penning a brand-new comedy for Apple TV in a deal reportedly worth a staggering $10.8 million.

Now, a couple of months later, Jones has teased the duo’s upcoming project in an interview, where she also discussed another writing project she is currently embarking on with friend and veteran actor Steve Speirs. “The next project I’m working on is set in Wales and it’s with my dear old friend and fellow actor Steve Speirs and we’ve co-written something,” Jones revealed, adding, “We’re filming before we film the project with James. So I’m writing with James and with Steve, sort of in parallel as it were. It’s been great actually, we’ve got it all mapped out, we’ve got great production teams on both sides and I feel very lucky.” Reportedly featuring ten episodes and an all-star British cast, Corden and Jones’ next series is supposedly set to begin production next year, with the aim of debuting in 2027.

But it turns out she’s not alone, and an argument escalates into shocking violence. In the aftermath, Simon loses his daughter all over again, and his search to find her will take him into a dangerous underworld, revealing deep secrets that could tear his family apart forever.”
