School closings in Carolinas: Tracking closures, delays for Dec. 9, 2025

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – School districts in the Carolinas were adjusting their schedules for Tuesday due to wintry weather expected to move in overnight.
Several inches of snow were expected to fall across the mountains in Western North Carolina late Monday, Dec. 8 and into Tuesday, Dec. 9. Some schools in the area were closing, delaying or shifting to remote learning due to the weather.

In addition to snow to the west, temperatures were forecast to plummet across the Carolinas overnight Monday into Tuesday. Rain had fallen in the Charlotte region throughout the day Monday.
Roadways could be slick Tuesday morning. Low temperatures were expected in the 20s in the Charlotte area, and in the teens further west on Tuesday morning.
Winter weather advisories were in place for Ashe and Avery counties until 1 a.m. Tuesday.
