La Voix has addressed landing a job on Strictly Come Dancing after hinting she was after Tess Daly or Claudia Winkleman’s role as they prepare to leave at the end of the current series.
The duo announced in October that they will be leaving the BBC dancing competition – which they have co-hosted together since 2014 – at the end of the current series, with the Christmas special on December 25 set to be their last aired appearance in the ballroom.
Confirming the shock news of their exits in a joint statement on social media, the pair said: “We have loved working as a duo and hosting Strictly has been an absolute dream. We were always going to leave together and now feels like the right time.
“We will have the greatest rest of this amazing series and we just want to say an enormous thank you to the BBC and to every single person who works on the show. They’re the most brilliant team and we’ll miss them every day.
“We will cry when we say the last ‘keep dancing’ but we will continue to say it to each other. Just possibly in tracksuit bottoms at home while holding some pizza.”
While there has been no mention of an official replacement just yet, La Voix put her hat in the ring while competing in the BBC One dance contest, before a foot injury forced her to withdraw from the competition as it reached the annual Blackpool special.

The drag performer told Closer magazine: “It’s the most sought-after job in TV – you can imagine the presenters queuing around the block for it. The bosses haven’t asked me yet, but I’m doing lots of wonderful things with them at the minute and to even be considered would be enough for me.
“Actually, I take that back – I want the job! There’s no point being coy about it! I’ve stood next to the two women who have literally handed their notice in – I’ve got to go, ‘I’m free!'”
La Voix – whose real name is Christopher Dennis – had to pull out of Strictly with a broken foot but was delighted to get to perform a goodbye Samba with her partner Aljaz Skorjanec at the Tower Ballroom during the show’s Blackpool week.
The 45-year-old star said: “It wasn’t quite how I wanted it to end. However, saying goodbye in Blackpool – flying down from the ceiling in a giant love heart – was wonderful. I think I almost had more of a send-off than if I’d stayed in the competition – so I think I played it quite well, really!”
La Voix kept making witty comments about Tess’ outfits just before she and Aljaz received feedback from the judges about their performances and quipped that it was a tactic to “distract from my dancing”.
The drag queen said: “I went all out with my jokes with Tess in episode one, because I thought after that, they might stop me – but they didn’t. They let me do my silly ideas and really embraced me. I think the other celebrities wondered why I was getting so much airtime, but I’d do anything to distract from my dancing!”
