Jim Belushi Promotes His Cannabis Brands at New Jersey Dispensaries

Celebrity grower Jim Belushi is set to make waves in New Jersey’s cannabis scene as he promotes his production deal with High Grass Farms. The actor and cannabis enthusiast will visit several dispensaries in South Jersey, including ReLeaf in Williamstown, High Rollers in Atlantic City, the Frosted Nug in Penns Grove, and Jersey Joint in Glassboro. Notably, the pro-cannabis South Jersey Chamber of Commerce is expected to accompany him at one of these locations.
High Grass Farms is a locally owned cannabis brand that renewed its license with the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission earlier this October. The farm operates out of a spacious 48,000 square foot facility in Buena, ensuring it has the capacity to produce a diverse range of cannabis products.
Belushi’s venture in New Jersey includes the introduction of three new brands: Belushi’s Farm, The Blues Brothers, and Big Sur Holy Weed. Under the Belushi’s Farm label, he plans to launch various cultivar strains, including Pink Certz, Mule Fuel, and Apple Tart. Additionally, he will be offering vapes, concentrates, and brick hash products in the state, as highlighted in a video he shared.
The actor’s connection to The Blues Brothers is particularly poignant, as he reflects on his late brother John Belushi’s legacy. Both brothers were integral to the band, which originated on Saturday Night Live and reached remarkable success on tour. Following John Belushi’s tragic passing in the 1980s, Jim took on the role of continuing the band’s performances. In a reflective moment, Jim shared his belief that had his brother opted for cannabis over other substances, he might still be with us today.

Previously, Jim starred in “Growing Belushi,” a show focused on his legal cannabis farm in Oregon, which aired on the Discovery Channel and is now available for streaming on HBO Max. The series not only showcased the intricacies of cultivation but also his innovative practices, including playing music for his plants.
Belushi’s foray into New Jersey’s cannabis market is part of a broader trend of celebrity brands entering the space. He joins an array of notable figures who have ventured into the state’s cannabis industry, including Raekwon from the Wu-Tang Clan and radio host Charlamagne tha God, who opened Hashstoria dispensary in Newark, though it faced closure within ten months. Berner, of the Cookies brand, has also established a presence, operating a dispensary in Harrison since August 2023 and promoting various collaborations. Additionally, actor Ice-T is a part-owner of the Medicine Woman dispensary in Jersey City, and former NBA player Al Harrington has opened Village dispensary in Hoboken.
Despite the excitement around celebrity brands, the cannabis community in New Jersey has a nuanced view of their involvement. Generally, those celebrities who have a genuine affinity for cannabis tend to garner more acceptance from the public.
As Jim Belushi prepares to introduce his brand to New Jersey, all eyes will be on his promotional events and the impact his products will have on the local market.
