An NJ Transit engine car pulling a freight train caught fire in Morris County on Sunday evening, officials said.
The fire was reported at approximately 6:40 p.m. near the Port Morris train yard in Roxbury, an NJ Transit spokesperson told NJ Advance Media.
Crew members exited safely and no passengers were on board. Firefighters from Roxbury extinguished the blaze, the spokesperson said.
Train service in the area uses a different rail line and was not affected by the incident, according to NJ Transit.
The length of the freight train is unclear.
