Penn State offensive assistant being pursued by SEC program, per report

Stan Drayton could be on the move again.

Penn State’s running backs coach is being “targeted” by South Carolina for the same job in 2026, per a report by Pete Nakos of On3.

Drayton was hired by the Nittany Lions ahead of the 2025 season, primarily to work with veteran running backs Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton.

Allen led Penn State in rushing with 1,303 yards and 15 rushing scores. Allen also passed Evan Royster late in the regular season to become the program’s all-time leading rusher.

Singleton rushed for 13 touchdowns during the regular season.

Drayton, the former head coach at Temple (2022-24), has 32 years of coaching experience, with an extensive background coaching running backs.

Prior to Temple, Drayton coached running backs at Texas, Ohio State, Florida, Syracuse, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Bowling Green, Villanova and Penn.

Drayton also spent time in the NFL with the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers.

Penn State (6-6) will face Clemson in the Pinstripe Bowl in New York City on Dec. 27.
