Manchester United right back Jayde Riviere is champing at the bit to take on Lyon in the Champions League tonight.
Form of her life
Riviere has been in incredible form this season, prompting Manchester United manager Marc Skinner to claim she has the potential to be the best in the world in her position.
She also scored her first ever goal for the club earlier in the season with a spectacular strike against the London City Lionesses.
Massive opportunity
Speaking alongside her manager at the pre-match press conference, in comments covered by the club’s official website, she said, “we want to play against the best of the best and it’s a great opportunity for us to expand our team and its skillset and its growth.”
Whilst not underestimating the challenge that the French side present, she was confident United can hold their own.
Riviere stated that, “you want to play the best of the European players because, ultimately, it’s going to help our team to grow on the pitch, off the pitch. But we’re playing good football.
She also added, “we’re enjoying our football right now. So, I wouldn’t take us lightly either.”
The defender also complimented her side’s growth over recent months and believes they are on track to accomplishing their objectives.
The Canadian also feels that the team have had a few learning curves but that this will stand them in good stead for tests like tonight.
Loving life at United
The 24-year-old also spoke glowingly of her time at United so far. She explained, “I’m enjoying my football a lot here, honestly. It’s a family here, first and foremost. It’s hard for anything to come in between us and I think for me, I’m just trying to play the best football I can.”
She also praised the “phenomenal” players currently in the squad and stated that they push her every day to be the best version of herself on the pitch.
Excitingly for United fans, she concluded her comments with, “so, ultimately, I’m in the best environment for myself and I want to just keep working towards trying to be one of the best full-backs in the world.”
