Lucy Nation admits that it’s not easy being green. The Australian country president for BP – which in 2014 lost a 12-year legal battle in Australia to trademark the colour green – has spent her entire career at the oil and gas giant, which generates annual revenues of about $US200 billion ($300 billion).
In 2020, under then-CEO Bernard Looney, BP announced one of the most ambitious climate strategies among the major oil companies but Nation now finds herself with the difficult task of selling its diminishing green credentials.
