The Black and Reds have won two straight Champions League matches since a 7-2 loss to visiting Paris Saint-Germain on Oct. 21.
Leverkusen got a first-half goal from Alejandro Grimaldo and an insurance marker from Patrik Schick early in the second half to beat Manchester City, while Mark Flekken made seven saves to post the clean sheet. Harvey Barnes gave Newcastle an early lead with a goal in the sixth minute at Marseille, but two early markers by the hosts in the second half swung the outcome.
