Amanda Holden shared details about her wedding to Chris

Amanda Holden marks her 17th wedding anniversary with her husband Chris Hughes today – but a thoughtful gift isn’t on the cards. Back on the airwaves on Wednesday, the Heart Radio presenter shared how a humorous mishap derailed what was meant to be a day of appreciation and romance.

Opening the show with her co-star Jamie Theakston, she began by gushing: “It’s my wedding anniversary today, 17 years ago we got married today at four o’clock.

“And I really wanted it to snow so I had a snow effects company who came to make it snow.

“And Father Christmas popped in with some reindeers because Lexi [their eldest daughter] was nearly three, and oh my gosh it feels like yesterday.”

Asked by Jamie if they celebrate the occasion, Amanda admitted the pair tended to skip doing anything special.

“We’re a bit rubbish at it, no, we sort of go, ‘Happy anniversary darling’ and I mean, I woke up this morning to one of the dogs having a poo,” she continued.

In response, Jamie joked: “Oh that’s nice, is that what it is for 17 years?”

“It’s actually furniture,” Amanda replied, revealing she had already looked up the traditional anniversary gift list.

She continued: “I can’t see what else to get Chris, but what I was going to say was, I cleaned everything and bleached everything, but I left the dog poo wrapped up in kitchen roll on the side!

“I was meant to put it in a bin bag and then put it in the bin before I go into the car.

“So I’ve had to text Chris, ‘Happy anniversary, I’ve accidentally left dog poo on the side for you’. Oh my God, poor Chris,” she added.

Later on in the show, the Britain’s Got Talent judge revealed the response she received from her husband.

“He said, ‘I love you too’, he sent me a picture this morning,” she announced.

Amanda and Chris have been together for over 20 years and they share two daughters together; Lexi, 19, and 13-year-old Hollie.

Initially meeting in Los Angeles in 2003, they went on to tie the knot five years later at St Margaret’s Church in Somerset.

Chris is Amanda’s second husband following her marriage to Les Dennis. The former couple were married from 1995 to 2003, divorcing after she had an affair with Neil Morrissey.

Speaking to HELLO! Magazine about her marriage in 2019, Amanda revealed: “Chris is very funny and errs on the side of lightness. We can make jokes out of any situation throughout the best and darkest times of our lives.

“He’s rubbish at romance, but he’s there for the solid things – such as keeping my car clean and making sure I relax.”
