LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The former Las Vegas Raiders player who was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for a deadly DUI crash, has been moved to a higher security prison facility, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections (NDOC).
Prison records show that Henry Ruggs III, 26, was previously housed at the low-security Casa Grande Transitional Housing, where he was deemed low-risk and unlikely to break the rules as a “community trustee”. That move came after Ruggs worked in the Governor’s Mansion while housed at Stewart Conservation Camp in northern Nevada.
As of Tuesday, records indicate that Ruggs has been moved to Northern Nevada Correctional Center, which is a medium-security facility, on Oct. 16.
An spokesperson for NDOC could not provide specifics, but stated, “an offender who commits infractions while at a lower-level custody, depending on the nature and severity, could be reverted back to a higher level of custody.”
NDOC also confirmed that Ruggs was no longer a community trustee
Ruggs is currently in prison after he pleaded guilty to driving drunk at 156 mph and crashing into another car, killing 23-year-old Tina Tintor and her dog in 2021. Prosecutors said his blood-alcohol level was twice the legal limit at 0.16.
He is due to be released in April of 2028.
