Davina McCall secretly marries fiancé Michael Douglas after whirlwind engagement

TV favourite Davina McCall has secretly married the devoted boyfriend who stood by her side through surgery for a brain tumour and breast cancer. The Sun revealed the presenter exchanged vows with celebrity hairdresser Michael Douglas in an “absolutely beautiful” low-key ceremony attended only by immediate family and the couple’s closest friends. Sources say Davina’s health journey played a major role in the couple deciding to marry as soon as possible. The pair chose a small venue close to home and inviting just a handful of their nearest and dearest.
One friend said: “Their wedding was perfect, exactly what they wanted. They chose a small venue close to their home, and just invited about ten of their friends and relatives to be there with them. It was very intimate and everyone who attended is very special in their lives.” The insider added that the couple felt marriage was the natural next step after months of health fears. They explained: “They’ve been through a huge amount in recent months, with Davina’s health, and it just felt right to formalise their marriage. They didn’t see the point in waiting.”
The newlyweds even attended a friend’s much larger wedding the following day — their first public outing as husband and wife.
The insider said: “The next day they just carried on with life as normal… they went as a married couple for the first time and happily showed off her wedding ring. It was the perfect weekend.”
Davina, 58, has endured a series of major health scares over the past year.
Last month, she revealed she had discovered a breast lump after noticing a sticker for Lorraine Kelly’s Change + Check campaign, leading to surgery and an upcoming five-day course of radiotherapy “as an insurance policy”.
She previously underwent a six-hour operation to remove a large colloid cyst from her brain, and has spoken candidly about the fear the ordeal brought.
Her health struggles also deepened her bond with Michael, 52, whom she has been dating since 2018 after years of friendship.
She said the experience brought them “really, really, really close together”, adding of Michael: “I think it has been the most testing time for him, ever… the amazing thing about him as a man, is that he’s everything.
“He’s strong, he’s soft, he’s funny, he’s serious, he’s really smart and super silly.”
The couple quietly got engaged before celebrating at the Burning Man festival in Nevada. Insiders say her illnesses accelerated their desire to wed, with one source noting: “Michael has been so strong and so supportive for Davina… he really stepped up.”
Davina’s road to stardom came after a difficult youth marked by addiction, a battle she has never shied away from discussing.
She credits Eric Clapton — with whom she had a brief relationship in her early twenties — for helping her get sober before her breakthrough hosting gigs on MTV, Streetmate and later Big Brother cemented her as one of Britain’s most recognisable presenters.
